James Geoghegan - Government Affairs Manager

James was appointed Government Affairs Manager for Transatlantic Public Affairs in January of 2009. He is responsible for managing the small team of researchers producing high level European Union political reports on a variety of issues that are of interest to the clients of Transatlantic PA. These include regular reporting and analysis on the EU Sovereign Debt Crisis, EU Financial Crisis and EU regulatory system. This work includes reports on proposed legislation, policies, opinions and decisions of the EU Member state governments and EU institutions.  

He also advises his clients on political strategies in order to best develop their goals in the European Union. These have included developing and executing successful political and corporate strategic plans for large US multinational companies, US investment funds, European based charities, education providers, and renewable energy companies on localized issues that are particular to their needs. He has worked with European politicians, drawing on his experience in Washington DC to develop and design modern and innovative electoral strategies and campaigns that can be applied in the particular EU Member State political environment.

Before working for Transatlantic PA, he spent time in Washington DC working for the former Irish Prime Minister and EU Ambassador to the United States John Bruton. His main function was to assist the Senior Outreach Coordinator in the organisation of programs to key US states, Multinational Corporations, National Trade Associations and Public Policy forums. Prior to working in the EU delegation he interned on Capitol Hill for the then Chairman of Subcommittee of the Ways and Means Committee, Congressman Richard E Neal in the US House of Representatives. James graduated with 1st class honors from University College Dublin with an International BA in Politics.
